Community sports organisation nets funding support

Inverell Basketball Association has a proud history in the local community in facilitating the sport for all ages and competitive desires.

Now the association and its participants have received a major assist with Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan announcing funding through the Local Sport Grant Program to purchase new equipment.

“Inverell Basketball Association provides a place for aspiring players to learn and develop, whether that is to reach competitive levels or play in a social environment,” Mr Moylan said.

“Like many community sports organisations, the Inverell Basketball Association is entirely made up of volunteers who run the competition, coach, referee and do all the jobs which are needed to ensure participants can hit the court.

“By securing funding, the association can purchase equipment and uniforms which contribute to their success.

“This is a great outcome and will make a real difference on and off the court.”

Inverell Basketball Association president Justin Pay said the funding comes at an important time.

“These upgrades will enhance the overall experience for players, volunteers, and supporters while ensuring the association can continue to operate and grow effectively,” he said.

“This funding will make a real difference to our players and the broader basketball community.

“It allows us to provide the resources needed to maintain a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.”
