Media Release: Moylan Condemns Service NSW Cuts

MEMBER for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan MP has condemned the Minns Labor Government for huge funding cuts to Service NSW which includes the sacking of more than 200 frontline staff.

Mr Moylan said Service NSW was a fundamental customer service agency which is used widely by members of his community, and these cuts will leave many people vulnerable at times of crisis.

“It is very disappointing that the Minns Government is considering dismantling Service NSW, impacting thousands of Northern Tablelands residents who use this service daily for many things,” Mr Moylan said.

“Whether you need help with car registration, emergency assistance during bushfires, floods, and drought, or for birth, deaths, and marriages – this service is essential to our community.

“In leaked documents, it is alleged that $100 million will be wiped from the agency across services including disaster preparation and recovery, customer support and digital services.”

Mr Moylan said the news came as a shock after leaked Service NSW documents were made public and the true extent of the cuts were not yet known.

“The Minns Government is keeping hardworking Service NSW staff in the dark and these employees deserve certainty about their future,” he said.

“This is an essential community service, and I will be doing everything I can to minimise the impact on my community.

“We cannot cripple basic community services and I am urging the Minns Labor Government to reverse these unfair cuts.”

Mr Moylan said Service NSW was established and rolled out by the previous Coalition Government and has been acknowledged as one of the best service delivery agencies in the country.
