Tennis club set for a revamp with big funding boost

Friday, 14 November 2025

Warialda Tennis Club’s tired and worn courts will soon be transformed thanks to a grant secured through the Clubgrants Category 3 Fund.

The club netted $100,534 to revamp the synthetic courts which have sat dormant for several years.

Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan met with Warialda Tennis Club’s Paul Durkin to announce the successful funding application.

“It is exciting to breathe new life into the Warialda Tennis Club’s synthetic courts to give the community a fit for purpose facility,” Mr Moylan said.

“With the funding from the Clubgrants program, the club will be able to revamp up to two of the dilapidated synthetic courts and easily maintain them for years to come.

“Tennis is a sport which can be enjoyed by people of all ages and is a great competitive and social outlet.

“Well done to the Warialda Tennis Club and I look forward to seeing the finished product being enjoyed by the whole community.”

Mr Durkin said the aim of getting the tennis courts up to scratch is, so the community’s youth have somewhere to go to enjoy the sport.

“We are looking to get the courts, that are currently non-operational, up and running so we can have social tennis as well as lessons for children,” he said.

“We would like the courts to be available to be used by local schools and the wider community.”
